Feels like home

In the heart of Älmhult since 1964

For over fifty years, we've been welcoming guests from near and far. We've been serving meatballs, making beds, and acted as the natural meeting place and social hub in Älmhult.
We're still doing all that, but now as a modern business hotel with greater capacity than ever, and fully focused on the needs of today's guests.

It all began with the meatballs

The first IKEA store, opened by Ingvar Kamprad in 1958, was an overnight sucess. Shoppers traveled long distances to find modern, smart furniture they could actually afford. After a day of shopping and inspiration, they needed somewhere to eat and rest. That was the beginning of the IKEA motel, where one could recharge one’s batteries with a plate of meatballs, and sleep over if the drive home was long. The swimming pool behind the hotel even offered a little touch of glamour.

Sustainability for people and for the planet

We want our impact on the world to be as positive as possible. This is why we have solar panels on the roof and LED-lights in our lamps, and why the old copper from our roof is now on our reception desk. Resource economy is a part of our culture.
To ensure that we do things right, we're BREEAM Excellent-certified, and we follow the IKEA environment and sustainability policy. Read more on ikea.com

A hotel for all

We want our guests to feel safe and comfortable. Our communal spaces are built to be accessible to those of you with disabilities, and a couple of hotel rooms are completely accessibility adapted. If you have any kind of food allergies, we can provide a list of ingredients for everything we serve in the restaurant. The breakfast buffet features both gluten-free and lactose-free options.
